Tony-winning musical In the Heights plays its final performance at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre.
In the Heights follows the story of three days in the life of Washington Heights, a tightknit community at the top of Manhattan. Created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who won a Tony for his Latin-flavored, hip-hop score, the show began life at off-Broadway’s 37 Arts Theatre, where it opened on February 8, 2007 and closed on July 15. In the Heightsthen transferred to Broadway on February 14, 2008, and opened on March 9, going on to win four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The production features a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes and is directed by Thomas Kail.
